Welcome to the Solitude Trail. I typically hike alone, but on this journey I hope you will join me. I’ve been hiking for over sixty years and in that time have seen many changes, most notably in the number of people out there sharing the trail with me. These days I find solitude in my log home in the Okanogan Highlands of northeastern Washington but continue to hike on the many trails near my home and beyond. My section hiking accomplishments include the Washington section of the Pacific Crest Trail, Wonderland Trail, most of the Pacific Northwest Trail across Washington, the Bighorns and Wind River Mountains of Wyoming, and many of the national parks of the southwest. In my blog I share with you some of my adventures and write about the experience of solitude on the trail and why it matters.
